Looking Back...

Thought I'd dig out some old work, and have a look at my progression. I forgot about a lot of it! The following images range from GCSE to degree level stuff...

And don't even get me started on the textiles... :)

New Subject, New Media, New Approach...

I've decided to embrace colour for a while and it's quite exciting to be let loose after quite a stay in greyscale land. The image below shows my first adventure with coloured biros since my second year of university, and I had forgotten how fun the are! My school art teacher was a real aficionado of the biro, so using them brings back many a happy memory. There's more to come, watch this space...

Some New Stuff...

Continued with the portraits, but I am beginning to get a bit bored with the subject matter now. Going to change course for a little while, and revisit it again later. Overall though, I am pleased with the overall progress of the drawings, and it's been nice to reacquaint myself with the pencil. I've thrown in a pastiche of Brandon Boyd's work too, just for good measure...

Geeking out...

Thought I'd take a few relaxing moments to find some inspiration...

I've found some really beautiful, interesting and truly awe inspiring images. Enjoy.

Alice Pasquini- Painted in acrylic and spray paint.

Ben Heine- Pencil Drawing on paper, layered in a photograph.

Kathy Halper- Embroideries based on her kids Facebook pictures, with comical comment captions!

Katrin Berge- Lovely fantastastical illustrations... absolutly breath taking.
:)

Drawing, Drawing, Drawing...

I'm plodding on with these portrait drawings. I'm reasonably pleased with them, however, Im struggling with the hair. I'm not entirely sure how to go about it if I'm honest. My first attempt is shown on one of the images in my previous post. It's reasonably effective but looks, maybe, a little graphicy compared to the face. I'm working on it...

Pastures New...

I've always had trouble with life drawing and portraits, so now that I'm a graduate, I've decided that it is about time that I learnt to draw figures and faces. I've decided to start with faces, then I am planning on moving on to hands and feet, then finally on to whole figures. I've only had a few attempts so far, but I quite pleased with them. It's a good start anyway...

P.s. Some are works in progress :)

Professional Photography...

Gaby from Gabdesign kindly shot a few photographs of my skateboards for my portfolio. And here they are...
